FIM CEV Valencia 1

Both finish in the top ten in the two Moto3 Junior World Championship races held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, where David Alonso has won the European Talent Cup Serie 2 race

The Asian talent has dazzled today in the second meeting of the FIM CEV season with the victories of Yuki Kunii and Ryusei Yamanaka in the two Moto3 Junior World races held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Moreover, the first of them, who also has been second in the other race, has become the new leader of the category, although the classification could not be tighter: second is Xavier Artigas, one point behind, and in the third position the Sama Qatar Ángel Nieto Junior Team rider Barry Baltus and Jeremy Alcoba are tied, four points behind Kunii.

Sama Qatar Angel Nieto Junior Team rider Barry Baltus, who arrived in Valencia after the victory in Estoril, has fought along with his teammate Aleix Viu for entering the top ten, a goal that both have achieved. Viu, who started from the fourth row of the grid, has been among the best in both races: in the first he was eighth, with physical problems due to a crash he suffered on Saturday, while in the second he was fifth, three tenths off the podium. Baltus has closed the weekend with a good taste in the mouth after being ninth and seventh. The one who has not been able to complete the races held in Valencia has been Max Kofler due to two crashes: the first, after suffering problems with the front tyre, and the second after avoiding a rider who had fallen in front of him, and finding another touching him from behind. The riders in the Moto3 category will be back in action during the French Grand Prix on May 19.

In the European Talent Cup, Sama Qatar Ángel Nieto Junior Team rider Iván Ortolá has left the lead after two difficult races. Ortolá started from the twenty-fourth place on the grid in the first race because of a penalty and despite this, he has been able to recover some positions and to reach twelfth and add four more points to his tally. In the second race, however, he was unable to cross the finish line due to a crash. Despite this, he remains in the upper zone of the European Talent Cup classification, second and four points behind the leader. His teammate David Alonso, who could not qualify for the two races today after finishing the qualifying practices three tenths outside the limit, has competed in the Serie 2 race. Alonso, who in Portugal climbed to the podium of the main race, has won with 62 thousandths of difference on the second and more than fourteen seconds on the third. The next appointment for the European Talent Cup riders will be on June 9 at the Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya.

Junior World Moto3:

Aleix Viu (8th and 5th): "I am very happy with how the weekend ended after yesterday's two crashes. I was not physically in perfect conditions in the first race, and this has made me slow down, but at the end of the race I saw that the group behind us was catching us and I tried to give my best to recover my pace. In the first corners I was wrong in the line and I lost some vital positions, because at the end I was setting fast times as the riders in the leading group. In the second race I did manage to get into the front group from the beginning. I have entered the battle for the podium, I have even been third but I have gone a little long on the last corner and finished fifth. It does not taste like a victory, but after how it had gone on Saturday we know this result is really good for us. The start of the season had been complicated, but this gives us more confidence to fight for the victory at Le Mans, where last year I won. It's a track that I'm good at, I'm looking forward to competing there. "

Barry Baltus (9th and 7th): "It was complicated today, coming from behind, but I like that every time we were out on the track we kept improving. In the first race, for example, we have recovered ten positions to finish ninth, and in the second race I was seventh after achieving some 1:40.5 riding alone, which is a very good lap time. For the next race weekend, which will be at Le Mans, we will work mainly on my performance on the straights, because I lose a lot of time and other rivals escape me. Anyway, I'm happy because we saved the weekend and we're still among the best in the general. "

Max Kofler (crash/crash): "In the first race I had some good first laps, in which I was able to overtake several rivals, but after a while I suffered a problem with the front wheel, which prevented me from pushing on the corners, and I've crashed in the sixth corner. When I returned to the track I was already very far from the rest and there was no point in continuing. Anyway, in the second race we tried something different in terms of set up to make a step forward, to be able to push harder, but in the first lap a rider fell in front of me and although I could avoid it, another rival has crashed on me from behind and thrown me to the ground. Now it's time to think about Le Mans, where last year I got my best qualifying position, and continue to improve."

European Talent Cup:

Iván Ortolá (12th and crash): "In the first race I started from the twenty-fourth position on the grid and I was able to recover seven places in the first corner. But starting from behind has stopped me from fighting with the front group. I tried to catch them, but I stayed in the second group. At least we have been able to add four important points for the championship. In the second race I was eighteenth and I started to push from the start to reach the front group, but on the back straight shortly after starting the race, another rider touched me and forced me to get out on the gravel. I tried to comeback from behind, but I have crashed some laps later after losing the front."

David Alonso (victory in the Series 2 race): "It was not our best weekend, but I learned a lot. On Friday we were behind and we didn’t know how to improve, and then in the qualifying practices the situation got even more complicated after a crash soon after starting. I have not found good feelings and I could not qualify for the main race. In the race of Series 2 I tried to escape, although I could not, but I'm happy because I have lowered my record.”
